Jimmy began a career in broadcast radio in 1995. Since then he has worked on both commercial and non-commercial radio and on many different radio formats. He’s been a top-rated air talent and has worked off-air as a program director, operations manager, creative services director, and an award-winning copywriter.
In 2003 Jimmy made the decision to shift career paths slightly. He left radio to join a startup project called Motivus. Using radio automation technologies and radio programming concepts, Motivus provided custom programmed music for retail stores and other environments. Due to extravagant music licensing fees from major record labels, Motivus ceased operations in 2005.
Today Jimmy is the Senior Product Manager of Software Systems at Broadcast Electronics, where he is actively engaged in the development of emergent technologies for radio. Jimmy regularly consults large radio groups on new media applications such as RDS, HD Radio, tagging and social networking. His more recent contribution is CrowdControl, a service for radio that puts the station playlist safely in the hands of listeners using social network channels. Jimmy also speaks at many broadcast conferences and has written numerous magazine articles and papers on how the radio industry can use new media and other technologies to remain relevant.
In 2004, when only a handful of people knew what a podcast was, Jimmy started The Podcast About Nothing. You can find it here: podcastaboutnothing.com
